REVIEW: Nanny Bill's at The Shop NW10

After first hearing about and visiting Nanny Bill's last Summer at their handmade eat-in diner at Night Tales in Hackney, is an award winning pop-up event combining experimental bar culture, food, dining experiences, live music and nightlife. Night Tales is known most notably for transforming derelict spaces into festival style hangouts.

They have today launched their 3 month residency at The Shop in Kensal Rise, and I couldn't be more excited that it's literally round the corner from me!!
This collaboration will see the marriage of Nanny Bill's trusty real food with The Shops intimate setting & killer cocktails menu as well as specially created gin cocktails.
And if that isn't enough to lure you in, then surely the introduction of new menu options such as brunch, a vegan burger, HALLOUMI NUGGETS (a moment of silence, please) will do the trick.

What to drink: Any of the cocktails on The Shop's extensive menu. I love a sweet cocktail and the "Shop Credit" with vodka, lime, pomegranate & apple juice, passion fruit & elderflower syrup and Prosecco was the perfect one for me.
What to eat: "The Jam" hand-pressed beef patty, cheddar, gherkins, lettuce, onions, smoked bacon, bacon jam, hot sauce, NB burger sauce & demi brioche.
Or if you're in more of a chicken mood you can't go wrong with "The Hot Mess" buttermilk fried chicken, cheese sauce, gherkins, lettuce, smoked bacon, hot sauce & demi brioche. The perfect amount of crisp on the salty chicken coating.
Both are utterly amazing and topped off with the Frank's hot sauce for that extra kick. Nanny Bill's burgers really do deliver everything you want from a burger with all the additions that you need.
And if you don't go for a mac n cheese croquette on top of your burger or as a side then you are doing it all wrong.
The triple cooked hand-cut chips now come with the optional (well, not for me) addition of cheese sauce, which amazingly doesn't get all hard and disgusting after 5 mins and tastes damn GOOD.
The sweet potato fries are soft and not too crispy or thin as you may usually get, cooked to perfection.

They have some new additions to the menu including "halloumi nuggets", which honestly blow halloumi fries out of the park and don't know why this hasn't been created before. Teamed with the NB garlic and herb sauce, it is the ultimate perfect appetiser.
The Shop is the ideal setting for Nanny Bills to do it’s first kitchen take over, it’s a versatile and creative venue that hosts great DJ’s and live music. And they will soon even be serving brunch, I can't wait!
